Details
This is the first official vinyl release of the Jean Grae's iconic Bootleg of the Bootleg. It is being released as a special edition red vinyl pressing. Initially released in 2003, the EP marked Jean's introduction to the world, pairing her raw, triumphant vocals and unfiltered lyricism to make quite a commanding entrance. One of the hit tracks that spawned from this EP was "The Hater's Anthem," which was the first track on the project.
Alongside features from Block McCloud, Cannibal Ox, and Pumpkinhead, the EP received critical acclaim from media outlets including Entertainment Weekly, Robert Christgau, and Pitchfork. This project was responsible for launching her career, which has since produced several hits and critically-acclaimed albums.
"Throughout the six official songs she's all rage, bile, and despair, 150 degrees from the bootstraps autobiography and positive shout-outs of her debut; throughout, her dense, explosive literacy gurgles from the beats like an underground brook." - Robert Christgau
